A Committee was elected at a meeting of West Hallam residents on 24th February 2003
and tasked with raising local awareness of the Shipley West Opencast Planning Application
by UK Coal [Ref CM8/899/44].
West Hallam Environmental Group was formally constituted at the first AGM held on
30th April 2003, with a considerably increased brief and range of objectives than
just the initial opencast objection.
